Children, Youth & Family Ministries
At the United Methodist Church of Summit, we believe faith grows best in community. Our Children, Youth, and Family Ministries provide a welcoming, joyful, and nurturing environment where children and youth discover God's love, build lasting friendships, and grow into compassionate disciples of Jesus Christ.
Sunday Morning Social Skills Group (Grades 3–8)
Sundays | 9:15–10:15 a.m.
Our unique Social Skills Group combines faith, fun, and practical life skills. Children learn and practice communication, friendship-building, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, teamwork, and confidence in a supportive small-group setting led by caring adults.
Worship & Children's Message
Sundays | 10:30 a.m.
Children begin worship with their families and are invited forward for a special Children's Message that brings God's Word to life through engaging stories, conversation, and hands-on object lessons.
Sunday School
Sundays | 10:45 a.m.
Following the Children's Message, children are dismissed to Sunday School for age-appropriate, interactive Bible lessons featuring games, crafts, discussion, service, and creative learning that help connect faith to everyday life.
Singing Believers Children's & Family Choir
Music is a wonderful way to grow in faith! Our Singing Believers Choir welcomes children and family members who enjoy singing together in worship and sharing God's love through music. No previous musical experience is necessary.
Youth Group
Our Youth Group offers middle and high school students a place to belong, ask questions, serve others, and deepen their faith through fellowship, Bible study, mission opportunities, retreats, and fun activities throughout the year.
Confirmation
Confirmation is a meaningful journey for youth who are ready to explore the Christian faith more deeply. Through engaging lessons, service experiences, mentoring relationships, and spiritual reflection, students learn about the Bible, the Methodist tradition, and what it means to profess their own faith.
Special Events Throughout the Year
Our ministry extends far beyond Sunday mornings! Families enjoy a variety of seasonal events designed to build community and create lasting memories, including:
- Family Fun Nights
- Vacation Bible School
- Holiday celebrations
- Service projects and mission opportunities
- Church picnics
- Christmas and Easter events
- Community outreach activities
- Parent gatherings and family fellowship events
Whether your child is taking their first steps into Sunday School or preparing for Confirmation, we are committed to partnering with families as together we nurture faith, build friendships, and help every child discover that they are deeply loved by God and belong in the life of the church.
