OUR HISTORY
Since the COVID pandemic, Summit United Methodist Church has recognized the growing need to respond to the challenges of our time, as more and more people are struggling with depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders.
Across all ages, we see rising feelings of disconnection, loneliness, and fear for the future, paired with a deep longing for meaning and purpose.
Children's lives are increasingly absorbed by technology, while young people face mounting obstacles in finding their footing and launching into adulthood.
In the midst of these growing pressures, our church hears the call to create spaces of belonging, healing, and hope—where mental health and spiritual well-being are embraced as essential parts of God's vision for abundant life.
Our Statement of Inclusion
At Summit United Methodist Church, our Mental Health Ministry strives to build and nurture a community rooted in compassion, acceptance, and support—where individuals of all gender identities, sexual orientations, abilities, ages, races, nationalities, cultures, and spiritual beliefs are welcomed and valued.
All services at the Mental Health Ministry are offered free of charge, so that individuals and families from all walks of life can have access to mental health care.
Our Vision
We envision a church and community where mental health is embraced as an essential part of spiritual well-being, where every person is valued, supported, and empowered to live with resilience and dignity. Guided by faith, our vision is to create a future of wholeness, courage, and connection, where God's love transforms lives and each person feels a sense of belonging.
Our Mission
Rooted in faith and guided by compassion, the Mental Health Ministry seeks to offer hope, healing, and community for all who struggle with mental health challenges. We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming space where everyone feels supported and understood. We strive to:
- Break the stigma surrounding mental health through education and advocacy.
- Provide spiritual and emotional support to individuals, families, and caregivers.
- Foster resilience and wholeness through connection, prayer, and practical resources.
- Embody Christ's love by standing with those in need and cultivating a community of care.
Together, we believe that God's light shines through even in our darkest seasons, and that through love and fellowship, healing is possible.
